I am offering a very special guards red Porsche 912 long wheel base coupe with a black interior on Fuchs 14×5 1/2 in. rims.What is particularly interesting about this vintage Porsche is its origin. Its original purchaser is Fred Astraire one of Americas foremost dance Cinema legends.I acquired this vehicle as a project, in that its owner prior to me retired the car over 15 years ago, having purchased it originally from Fred Astraires nephew in Beverly Hills 21 years ago.The gentleman purchased it for his daughter who used the car through college as a daily driver, then parked it at her Fathers house because her new husband bought her a more family oriented vehicle.This car is rust free, and the body is in great condition, however it appears that the passenger fender has been hit and repaired at the front headlight lens area and the fix was mediocre at best.Therefore a new fender, perhaps is in order to achieve perfection.This car needs complete restoration. The motor needs to be rebuilt, the transmission is tight but a new clutch and assembly is needed before motor is re-installed.This is the perfect restoration candidate for the 912 enthusiast that loves some history along with the classic design, specific only to the 1969 through 1973 long wheel based coupe design.The interior is fair, the headliner is great, but all other aspects of the interior should be addressed and replaced to perfect a 100 point car.The fact that Fred Astraire owned this Porsche and we posses the original 5×5 Pink Slip makes it a unique and special car that certainly would merit a complete and painstaking resurrection!!!I purchased this vehicle with the intent to do just that (100 point restoration) but due to the overwhelming number of projects I have, I cannot take on another one, for now.This is not a hardship sale, but rather a sale of the wish that this special vehicle finds a suitable home.No emails, no dealers, no insults call Jonathan at (323) 271-8859.
