Title 1980 928 Porsche Running Condition! (Alhambra) $2000
Created 01/04/09
Description I am selling my 1980 928 Porsche with only 2 previous owners. CLEAN TITLE. I love this car and I never thought I would sell it, but I have to make room for my new toys and she has to go. It was bought by the previous owner in 1982 and it was kept by that owner until 2004. The car was parked for about 12 years in a closed heated garage and then I bought the car from that owner. I have put brand new Good Year tires on with less than 4k miles on it. My dad is a certified Porsche Mechanic and he did a full tune up after we bought it. All the fluids were flushed and I only put on about 4k miles on it ever since. This is my first Porsche and I took VERY good care of it.The Good:The car has a new Kenwood MP3 CD player, with MTX all around. I have wired it for a sub and amp which will plug right in.The paint is still shining as it looks like it just left the show room. The Tires are brand new.Brand New O2 sensor.Brand New Brakes. The car has A LOT of power, it has a lot of high end torque. Its an Automatic, great for those who don’t drive stick and yet can cruise it in.New passanger window regulator.Have extra parts such as extra door panals and some misc parts. It has a power sunroof which was rare in 1980.Full power seats and tilt steering wheel.Inexpensive to maintain, lots of parts available. E-bay has all parts for this car from seat knob to new engine.New $1,200 Mass Air Flow Meter/Sensor.No cracks in dash as all other 928 have due to the age of the car.Brand new battery. The Bad:The car does not pass smog. I replaced to o2 sensor and the o2 works and then it does not. Its intermediate. So that’s why it’s not passing smog. I read many forums and talked to 928 specialists and they told me that since the car was sitting for a while the coolant temp sensor might have gone bad sending the o2 sensor falls reading of the temperature causing the o2 sensor not to know when to work. So it’s not an expensive fix. The sensor is only 20 bucks not a big deal. The interior needs work. The driver’s side seat needs some attention. Nothing a seat cover cannot cover. If you add some nice floor mates and seat covers, the interior would be in good shape, that’s pretty much all the interior needs. The cover that slides with the shifter on the shift knob is broken, you can easy add a leather boot to cover that hole.I rear ended someone a while ago and their needs to be some minor body damage to be done on the front end of the car. My dad straightened the hood and so it only needs the bumper fixed and a fog light. You cannot really even see the damage on the bumper. The headlight has to be aligned so it would pop up again due to the accident, my dad might straighten that out too before I release the car.The battery drains as I think there is an open circuit somewhere. My dad said he would look at that before we sell the vehicle, but I just want to let you know everything I know about the car.The car used to have a high end security system, with a keypad and a phone system in the car and I removed all of that because it’s all out dated anyway. I still have the box with all the stuff, I can give you if you want. The odometer stopped working 125k, that is when I got the car 4k miles ago. The previous owner, very honest person told me it was working when parked, so it could be that it got stuck as it was not operated for such a long time, so true miles are unknown. With all this in mind, I know this car GREAT potential. It can easily be restored. The car is in running condition. I have paid all registration fees and it is up to date. I just paid $400 in backed up registration fees. So you only have to pay the title transfer fee. I priced the car at $2,000 or best offer with all of these problems in mind. You can most likely strip the car and sell it in pieces and make more money. Give me a reasonable offer and the car is yours. Thanks for looking!Kowsi
